I'm not sure if this is tied to M1 in particular, but I've got an M1 Macbook Air - and the language switch button sometimes stops working completely.

I haven't been able to find out what causes it and what stops causing it - it just happens out of the blue. A restart always helps, but sometimes it starts working normally on its own.

Has anyone had this problem?

Since the key is new to the M1, it is M1 specific as of right now.

I have experienced the same problem when it first came out. Big Sur 11.1~ fixed the problem, the key always works now.

I havent used it though since it doesn't immediately change language after hitting the key; I have to delete the first few characters.

I have the same problem. It got to the point to where I changed it to an emoji key and just use control + space to switch languages

Yes, that is well! Mine also has this annoying lag where you have to wait for a couple of seconds before continuing to type. This is a really poor design by Apple

macbook pro m1 bigsur 11.3.1 here.
same problem, when i open my macbook is fine but after sometime the fn key that changes language stops working. the only solution that is not a real solution is to use capslock for change languange...
also for me, when it stops it never starts working again by itself. only with restart.
this and the wifi issue are very annoying

Have the same situation with two languages - Ukrainian and English. MBP M1 BigSur 11.3.1
Sometimes the button begins to work and sometimes the restart is needed for it to begin working. Using taskbar switch or control-option-space
