Laptop checks...

Well according to the tracking details my MBP 13" is going to arrive today... This will be my first Apple laptop since a PowerBook 1400cs in 1998 ish! (Which still works by the way!)

What checks should I do to make sure everything is ok? Such as checking the screen for dead pixels etc. Is there an application to assist with that? Are there any common issues with the 13" I should know about and look for?
