I have recently starting noticing that my MBP comes out of sleep on its own when I remove it from my backpack: i.e., when it is still closed and latched, in my hands. This is making me worry that it is coming out of sleep at other times, while it is still in there.

Anyone know what could be causing this? Where is the sensor that indicates the laptop has been opened? Can this be tuned or adjusted at all?

I have "Allow Bluetooth Devices to Wake this Computer" turned off, so it's not my keyboard and mouse triggering it.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the MBP has a magnetic latch just like the MB right?

Got any magnets in your backpack? lol. I have no idea. Crazy and ridiculous and completely uninformed guess.

This happened to me a couple of times on my brand new SR MBP. It freaked me out a bit trying to figure out what was waking it up. Somehow, bumping or shaking the MBP causes either the keyboard, trackpad, screen latch, or some other device to wake it up.

Try running terminal and enter this command: sudo pmset -a lidwake 0

Based on another post here, I tried this and it no longer wakes up. However it will also not automatically wake up by opening the lid anymore, you have to press the power button to wake it (which I prefer anyway).
