Perfect for the reach-around feature that apple loves to give us!

Heres maybe one reason your macbook pro is running so hot.

Yeah, I totally hear you there, but if you haven't already I'd report the problem to Apple and tell them you're having to use an external fan just to keep the thing cool enough to use. It's certainly not 'normal' practice, and having felt some of the MBP's in the Apple store I can assure you that such heat is not something you should just accept.Mojo67821 said:To be honest this is the first laptop I've ever owned. All I know is that when I use it for more than 10 minutes it gets hotter than a bastard. Almost too hot to touch at all. I began to worry that the insides were going to warp or melt or something. again, I've never owned a laptop before so I'm just going with the "better safe than sorry" approach. I assume my mbp has an internal fan, but I've never heard it running so I really couldn't tell you.
I have heard that the aluminum design is made to suck the heat away from the inside, which would inturn leave the outside very hot.... but it was still concerning me.
Running a fan on it keeps it cool to the touch... and considering that I use it for pretty extensive video editing for 3-4 hours at a time, I figure I'm doing something good to extend the life of the computer.
Mojo67821 said:Hmmm... bizarre... I don't know thing 1 about the inside of computers... is it bad that that stuff is spread on the inside? There must be a reason for it right?
Does anyone know where I can get one of those snake fans?
khisayruou said:That stuff is thermal paste, you put it on the cpu so that there is maximum
transfer of heat from the chip onto the heatsink. Your suppose to apply a very
thin layer.
The fan shown is the Kensington FlyFan Compusa, CC, and BB all should have them.
Mojo67821 said:Forgive my ignorance here... should I be concerned about the fact that all of this stuff is on the inside of my computer? I'm assuming it's there for a reason.
