I pulled my laptop out of it's soft-case just now, and it was hot as hell.

Was watching a video on YouTube last night, and after it was over, closed the lid on my laptop and put it away for the night.

Being a Mac user, I never shut my laptop down, except for an occassional reboot every 2-3 weeks.

What could have caused this issue? (When I say "hot", I mean it felt like it had been sitting on my dashboard on a hot sunny day.)

Battery issue?

So website or app that went wild even afetr I shut the lid on my laptop?

Something else?

Sounds like some process didn’t go to sleep, which prevented the Mac from going to sleep. So it sat there cooking all night.

Unlikely to cause damage; the SMC should prevent that. Reboot, update, should be fine.
