Laptop not sending info out but will receive

My laptop will receive info from the cloud but will not send out. Could someone tell me step by step how to get it to send out to the cloud. All of my other devices will send and receive properly. Where do I check to see if all of my settings are right. When I go to the iCloud icon, all of my mail, contacts, calendars etc are checked off as being in use.
