PS3 may be $400-$500. Throw in the price of one of the hard drives, which according to Sony will have Linux preinstalled. You CAN use it as a desktop PC...

...however, Linux is not very user friendly.

If you want a computer, get the Mac. If you want to play games, get the PS3. Simple as that.

What is a 12" iBook CD? and I reinstalled windows because a lot of things were not working.

I found this G3 iBook Clamshell on eBay.... Is this a good deal? Im willing to upgrade... a lot.

That's getting awful close to the price range of the "dual USB" G3 iBooks that look like the G4 iBooks...and the latter are going to be much more useable. The clamshell is great, but (a) it's not that upgradeable, and (b) it's better purchased as a labor of love than because it's the best you can afford.

Are the graphics cards in iBooks upgradeable? because if I would want to get a game at sometime most likely the Sims 2. Would 32MB be sufficent or no?

Nope wouldn't work. Needs 64MB (that game is terribly built for Mac). Welllll, I just had to go through the same thing for my iPod. In the end I chose the iPod it was now opposed to later.

I say you should get the Mac mini. It's cheaper. Then you can save up more for the PS3. You can always add new peripherals later.

Other options: I sped up my iPod by investing in Apple! I only make $15 a month or so, and this doubled my cash in 8 months. I think its pretty likely that it will continue to go up (maybe not that fast), especially at the earnings announcement this quarter. Just an idea. You could invest in a couple shares and see what happens.

You could also take on a job, or decide to go for a less expenisve game system. Oh, and one word of warning about the game systems: WAIT 3 MONTHS AFTER THE BIG THREE ARE ALL OUT BEFORE BUYING. The PSP is dead with no good flow of games, 5 months after the amazing, super-sucessful release. Also seriously consider the Revolution if it turns out to be cool.

The PSP isnt dead. There is an intial drought for game consoles after the launch. Like for the PSP, there are a lot of good games coming out in October.
