Thanks for that but I'm gonna get a Dell laptop because my course relies heavily on Windows based applications, as I'm taking Computer Forensic, however in my final year of uni, providing I have saved enough money I will get myself a Macbook
I did a similar course for my first year (Ethical Hacking), but I'm doing computer forensics in September (starting 2nd year). I use a 13 inch Macbook Pro in Uni and haven't found any disadvantages to running OSX really (we had a forensics module). When I did need to run Windows I just ran it in VMWare (that way you have the ability to run multiple versions of Windows at the same time too, as well as some linux distributions)
Edit: Battery life is a big thing as well, I'd often leave my charger in my flat and go out all day without the need to charge it at all, then have plenty left for when I got back. Also it's the perfect size to use on the train if you live far away from Uni (I had to travel across the country).
