I want to get a couple of older Apple laptops for my kids, something they can take on long trips and watch movies/play games on. I'd love to get them clamshells as they are practically indestructible, alas the clammies don't have the guts for movie watching in iTunes.

I've been looking at some G4 iBooks, but I'm not sure if they will do the trick. What's the lowest spec you would recommend for watching movies in iTunes?

I'd say the 1GHz G4 iBook. I have a 667 TiBook, and I can watch movies, but it does studder.

I'd guess any of the G4 iBooks will cut it for basic movie-watching, given that the slowest there is is 800MHz. The people I know who're using those don't seem to have trouble at least.

Spec wise, the iBook G4s should do the trick. However, I'm hesitant to recommend them (or the iBook G3s) due to the failed graphics issues that both model suffered from...
