Was just looking at the ceramic model pricing and clicked on the blue version and wow! They managed to make the bezel even thicker on the series 12. I thought the series 10 was a step backwards in design over the series 7-9 but the 12 is actually worse. It looks like an SE2 now. I can’t believe how bad it looks with any background other than black.

I think the bezels were thicker on the last ceramic and one of the reasons ceramic hasn’t been used in a while, something about the material needing to be thicker because it’s more brittle. Could be wrong but sure it’s something like that.

It looks like they pushed the case further back on all of them. On the 11 you can see the case showing on the other side of the crown but on the 12 the crown is either even with the glass or maybe slightly past the glass. It also looks like the crown is slightly smaller.

Yeah I remember. I know bezels got thinker on the 10/11. What I’m saying is the bezels are thicker on the 12 than they were on the 10/11.
You are right! It almost looks like my old Series 5 at least from the pictures on Apple’s website. Hopefully we can see some phots comparing S9 vs 10/11 vs 12. I also the 7-9 has been the one that looks best so far.

The total bezels on the S10/11 did not get bigger; the glass part got bigger while the metal part got smaller.

That being said, in the specs the S12 case is indeed 1 mm wider (but not taller or thicker) than the S10/11, so apparently something did change. We will get comparison pictures/videos soon enough, I guess.

And yes, the ceramic cases were always bigger than the metal cases because they can‘t make the material as thin for structural reasons.

Yeah the black glass bezel got thicker on the series 10/11. I don’t who cares about the case bezel. The thing they made a huge deal about shrinking in the series 7 announcement, the ultra 3 announcement and in most iPhone announcements. I can’t understand why they are moving the wrong direction on the series models. Here’s another pic I saw on Reddit and it definitely looks like the black glass bezels grew again.

Totally agree, that border looks ridiculously thick on any watch face with a light background! It’s wild seeing them take a step backward on the screen-to-body ratio when the whole point of upgrading is supposed to be sleeker hardware.

If you're dropping that kind of cash on the ceramic finish, you'd expect seamless edges, not something that looks like an SE bezel. Sticking to true black watch faces seems like the only way to hide it, which completely ruins the point of custom colorways. Massive design misstep on Apple's part for sure.
