I'd prefer Retina Display, there comes a time when big is not always better ...

I don't have an iPhone yet (or any smartphone) but do have an iPod Touch 4 which seems a perfect sized screen and device for portability. Have gotten so used to the retina display that even the iPad 2 display looks poor in comparison.

Wouldn't want a bigger iPhone 5 screensize at the expense of much bigger phone nor would I want Apple to reduce resolution to 285ppi.

Better yet get glasses so that the rest of us don't have to lug aroung huge 4.3" screen phones.

Agreed.

A friend has a 4.3" Droid X, its HUGE.

A full 4mm wider, 6mm taller, and 1oz heavier. In less than a week he pulled a muscle in his back, tore the pockets in his pants, and now he's on full disability. It's So big and heavy, he just couldn't avoid being severely injured.

His wifes so mad he's getting a divorce.

Androids will be outlawed soon.

Contrary to belief some 4" phones aren't that huge:

What do I think? I think you should wait until the product is released. Not to be rude but what exactly do you gain by opinions on something that may not happen? Ask yourself this after the iPhone 5 is released and you'll realize you wasted time... like I did typing this up.

You need to get your eyes fixed then. If .8 of an inch increases something so drastically that you can now magically see, you really should go see a doctor.

LOL agreed.
I can see fine with the 3.5, i'd just prefer a larger screen.

How big is your TV? Cos if you say more than 21" you should get your eyes checked too by your logic. Just because you don't need the screen bigger doesn't mean you can't want it bigger.

What the hell are you talking about? Why don't you read before you make yourself look like a fool. I never once said I didn't want a bigger screen.

Why don't you read the post I quoted. I'll be nice and post it for you...

"I want a 4.3". 3.5" is just too small. Can't see ***!"

Now read what I said.

Speaking of getting eyes checked...

iBoys know that they won't be getting anything larger than 3.5" for a looong time, because Uncle Steve says so. So, they are trying to get used to the fact. :D

As serious as I consider the need for Apple to expand the screen size is, it would be quite entertaining to watch them dig in their heels and maintain the tiniest display in the smartphone space.

I am perfectly happy with the screen on the iPhone. I would choose retina display over bigger screen every time. The clarity is beyond awesome.

"retina" is just the ppi, nothing special. if apple gave us a bigger screen they would almost certainly give it the same ppi after claiming to have discovered the "sweet spot" in the keynote last year, in which case it would be just as magi... clear but on a slightly larger scale.

+1 because I'm quite positive this is exactly what apple plans on doing.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8G4 Safari/6533.18.5)

All I know is that I'll be getting a different phone if apple doesn't come out with a larger screen by iPhone 6. I'm ok with the 3.5" screen on the iPhone 4, but I want my next phone to have a more spacious display.

I want both. If I had to choose though, I guess I'd say retina though. If I was apple, I'd make the developers re- adjust the size of the apps. The current size has had a good run. Also, is there any reason the apps couldn't just stay the same size and have the black bars around them? I really don't care about how apps look as much as much as I'd like a bigger screen for browsing and watching videos.

1. Apple won't lose resolution if they up the screen size. They won't let that happen.

2. You can still have the same form factor/size of the phone if they make it a 4" Any bigger will increase the size of the phone.

3. People need to stop saying that we are stupid to want a larger screen and that the 3.5" screen is fine and Apple doesn't need to make the screen larger.

- Why not want a bigger screen if it doesn't raise the price of the iPhone?
- If the phone does get a little wider. That shouldn't be a problem. I have small hands and I can notice I can still hold more width, with comfort!
- This will introduce more room on the screen which can be great for looking/reading text from safari and other apps. More room to add another column of apps to the home screen. Utilize the extra screen size to add more stuff to an app.

4. A thinner bezel! Please don't say you like the bezel. It makes the front of the iPhone look obsolete. Take a look at the back of the iphone where theres no lines or breaks and is just a solid black, then when you look at the front you see what you have been seeing since the first iPhone from 2007. I know some people use it to rest there thumbs on it. But I find most people don't put their thumbs on the bezel at all. It will also make the iPhone look sexier without these thick borders.
