This can't be right. On my iPhone 8. iOS 11.2. In settings/appleid(top of settings menu)/my iphone 8, underneath the "iCloud Backup" line it says "Last iCloud backup: Never". But if i click into iCloud Backup, underneath "Back up now" it says, "Last successful backup: Yesterday at 10:26am". And each day it has something similar so i know it's backing up every day. So why does the main menu say "Never"?

This has happened to me all throughout iOS 11. My guess is that it is a bug in which updating your phone causes it to say “never backed up” at that screen and will say that until you do an iCloud backup on your current iOS version.

Example: iCloud backup done on iOS 11.1.2. Then you update iOS 11.2 and that screen says never been backed up until you do an iCloud back while on 11.2.

I signed out of iCloud on my phone and then signed back in and this fixed this issue for me.

I am having the same issue as those who previously posted. After getting the iPhone X I just setup by using my 7 plus. Everything on the phone seems to be working flawlessly except iCloud backup. It starts off saying backup will take 6 minutes and eventually works its way up to 10 hours.

I tried hard resets, logging out of iCloud, both without a fix...

Any other ideas?

What size is the backup? Is this the first time the X is trying to backup to iCloud. I know it shouldn’t take as long as it’s telling you unless you haven’t backed up in ages and you have a lot of data that needs to backup up, but if nothing else seems to fix it that you’ve tried, I would just plug the phone in overnight and let the backup go and see if it finishes by morning. It’s different for everyone, and sometimes with computers/phones/tablets etc, it’s just best to leave it and let it do its thing. If it doesn’t finish backing up overnight, then I’d say further troubleshooting is needed.

I’ve let it sit plugged in and locked to for several 10+ hours sessions and it never finishes. Whenever I get a new phone I set it and forget it for a solid day to allow a complete resort from backup to occur, photos, apps, blah blah. Usually by the next morning after the initial restore the iCloud backup takes care of itself. Thanks for the insight.

Same thing on my iPad. It is backing up to iCloud automatically every day, but in Settings > Apple ID > iPad it shows "Last iCloud backup: Never." Sounds like signing out of iCloud and signing back in resolves the issue, but it's kind of a hassle.
