No 64gb option. Everyone to the cloud, no on site storage needed.

That's my bet.

I agree that it's probably not necessary anymore, but Apple makes super high margins on the top end iPads. The 64GB (or 128GB) iPad is basically just Apple letting people who want to spend $900 on an iPad give them more money.

$899 - iPad 3 128GB LTE (Black or White)

Something tells me, 128 GB of storage is not going to happen this time around.

Strickly cloud storage? Impossible. Not for an iPad. How would users benefit from strictly cloud based storage? While beneficially for backup purposes, I do not see any possibilities for strictly cloud only storage.

if its called the "HD" i will not buy it. Such a stupid name.

Some would say that's a stupid reason to not buy a product.

As for predictions, all I'm predicting is that there's something on the new iPad that few of us are predicting right now. Maybe this is just wishful thinking, but I would hate to see nothing new in addition to all of the credible rumors that have been released.

Same list as last year prior to iPad2
- 7" ish form factor
- Wireless video input from HD devices (at least 720p)
- Hardwired HDMI IN Port that would really mean HDMI out too :)
- Retina display
- SDHC card slot

that would be way enough for me :) though more RAM is ALWAYS nice.:D

Are those predictions or just a wish list? You're only going to get the Retina Display lol.

I don't get the wireless video input point. Do you mean you want another device to be able to output their video to the iPad, like a PS3 or cable box? And wirelessly, on top of that.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 5_0_1 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/534.46 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.1 Mobile/9A405 Safari/7534.48.3)

It's insane that everyone here gets so wrapped up on what's actually going to happen today. Yes, the rumors are out there. However, instead of complaining about what hasn't been confirmed yet, wait until the event. If you don't like it, do not keep up on the rumors and speculation.

iPad 3
32gb/64gb/128gb varieties
Retina display
A6 quad core
1gb RAM
Vastly improved cameras
Stereo speakers
SD card slot

Ok, most of them are not so much predictions but wishes!

So you think there will be 4 models (16, 32, 64 and 128? :) ?

I predict the iPad 2 will be renamed iPad. So it would be

iPad - 16GB ONLY. No 3G options so only 2 skus (black/white)

iPad HD/Pro - 32/64/128GB

Id probably aim for the 64GB iPad HD.

I don't know that the poster meant "strictly cloud only storage". The point was likely that with iCloud now allowing us to keep TV shows and music in the cloud, it makes a lot of sense for most users (myself included) to get lower-end models in terms of expensive flash storage.

A high-end 128GB option might still happen, but 16/32/64 is quite likely and would be just fine.

My first iPad was the original iPad in 32 GB Wi-Fi. My next iPad (iPad 3) will be the bottom end model, even if it is a step-down in terms of storage to 16 GB. I don't use much storage anymore because the things I would want to store are available in the cloud.

Yes! Actually, the technology that is already close to this is being championed by Nikon in the D4 [link Here]. I would like to finally see peer to peer networks between tablet and capture devices like DSLRs and Video cameras that would allow for camera control PLUS at least 720p monitoring. My logic is that if you spend $500+ on a convergent device, then make it converge with the extant demand- peer2peer HD monitoring on wireless hand-helds

More -gaming or entertainment functionality  We Do NOT need.
These wireless devices are on the verge of my oldest dream. Full power PDA with the ability to convert a device such as the iphone/7"ipad with accessory sensors into a full medical diagnostic and advisory lab.
Star Trek - a - go go !

allow me to purloin this quote for a paper I'm writing titled:
What If The Cloud Evaporates?

Small upgrades with a huge focus on the new screen.

Modest updates overall.

Biggest update will be the most important part.. the screen. Retina display.
Minor camera spec bumps. Likely FaceTime HD front, 3-5MP back.
Every model will support all 3G services just like the 4S except the Wifi only ones of course.
Possible Sprint support because of this and if Sprint is smart.. better pricing models for 3G access.
Slight processor bump. Probably more ram to support the higher res screen.

Same battery life somehow..
Same form factor.
Same storage capacities.
Same price.

No LTE. The market just isn't there. America isn't the only place these things are sold and they will likely wait until LTE is more commonplace to bother with it.

Fewer 3G style models due to the all in one antennas / chips.

I will return to this post in about 4 hours to see how close I was =P

Regarding the iPad 2.
Minus $100 to $150 from the price.
16 GB only, possibly 8GB model. No 3G options.

Is anyone else thinking that the prospect of LTE models will just add yet more models Apple have to cater for? I know it's one physical product, but with a lot of variants - the word fragmentation comes to mind... I would say LTE would be embedded in the lot, but for us in the UK LTE is useless at the moment...

Thoughts?

√ iPad HD
√ Improved Cameras
√ More RAM
√ Siri
√ Retina Display
× 128GB
√ 4G
√ New apps just for new iPad

Last minute prediction based on combined rumors: Apple has decided to create a device for each market, entry level, mid range, and pro-sumers. This is a very large leap of a prediction!

Based on HD monkier rumor, and haptic feedback rumor.. To me, the haptic feedback is the missing "killer feature" an iPad needed to stay on top for a long time and for Tim Cook needed to come out with a bang.

iPad HD (no numbers, ever - just like iPod range) to be announced today:
Haptic feedback, pen based input for annotations and drawings, A6 quad core chip, retina, LTE, much better front facing camera for facetime and potential Siri (not sure on point other than annotation). 128gb option. 1gb of ram (maybe 1.5 at a big push). Same battery as current and slightly thicker.

Based on my own reasoning, no rumors involved. Would be sold as entry level until later this year.

iPad 2S (continuing the numbered range) for mid range market, to be announced today:
No haptic feedback (will come next update), tri core or upgraded duo core processor, better camera, 50:50 on retina as they would keep the current resolution in the mini, so multiple resolutions still exist regardless and this would keep cost low, LTE and better camera. Completely unsure on Siri. No 128gb option. Slightly better battery and same thickness.

EDIT: Actually, I'd be voting with 80% confidence, no retina on this model, but same mobile chip as the HD (ie, 3G vs 4G).

FURTHER EDIT: And this will be the "one more thing"

iPad mini to be announced later this year in time for Christmas:
Same as iPad 2S but with smaller screen. Litterally imagine the iPad 2S had a baby. Potential addition of haptic feedback to compete with note style phablets (or for them to compete with this!) and definite addition of Siri. No 64gb option.

EDIT FROM ABOVE: unless this is the "one more thing".. but I doubt it.

Based on supply rumors, apple store down for updating and previous rumors..

Apple TV 3 announced and available today:
addition of 1080p. Not much else to say.

iPad 2S available 9th, HD available 16th.

I was really close, sorry for quoting but I didn't want to affect the timestamp on my post. Only thing I was really way off on was the 4G LTE stuff. Oh well.
