When I was in college, I parked my bicycle on the sidewalk right outside the building where I worked. I didn't bother to lock it because I was just going in for a second to grab something I'd forgotten, and I'd be right back, and there was no way anything could happen to it in such a short period of time, right? You can figure out the rest of that story.

I also had a co-worker borrow a book several years back, and then he left the job and took the book with him. I'm sort of on the fence about that though, because it was probably just an honest mistake on his part.

My Car...

Until I figured out I was in the wrong parking lot.

my friend once did that, rang the police and everything...

anyway back on topic

my phone, which was broken, i even shouted this to the guy to stole it, he kept running, hope he enjoys a 3 year old phone with a broken screen and no battery...

Got my wallet stolen on the Rome metro. A Roman shopkeeper let me use his cell phone to call the credit card company to report this. By this time, the guy had bought just under $500 worth of stuff (didn't have to pay for it, thankfully). I still can't believe the kindness of that shopkeeper (he knew I was calling a US number and he didn't bat an eye--he must have had a GREAT cell phone plan)

'someone' stole my research notes and samples from secured lab...

and my good gold nib fountain pen...

Attempts this week:
my wallet X 4
my ipod X 2
back pack x1
phone X 1
monitor x 1
Ok you're giving Vancouver a really bad name! Do you live in the ghetto?

my virginity:eek:

Yeah see lil'homunculus beat me to it! At least I know I'm not the only crude one around here. :)

Last thing really stolen from me. Aside from any sort of snack I may have in the office that seems to disappear overnight (cleaning crew must be hungry people), it was a print of a photo I took. I moved to a new desk 2 years ago and left it there with a stack of other prints. That one was gone. It also happened to be the only darkroom print in the pile and the only b/w print. My guess is whomever stole it has really good taste considering they had about 10 to choose from and that I hope they framed it under some anti-glare uv protected glass on 100% rag archival matte.

Just a thought. ;)

Jessica, i wasn't kidding. And if you find it, i'd 'really' like it back. Should I look on craigslist???

Yeah try there and if worse comes to worse as I understand if you wait a year then technically you're a virgin again. ;)

LOL, on our campus you have to get like 5 different lock and tie up everything on the bike. Seriously, if they can't get the front wheel off they will take the handlebars or the seat, its great.

Anyways, someone stole a pair of shoes from me while I was in PE in high school. My first ever pair of Pumas... Now I only wear Pumas, coincidence? I think not!

When I bought my Mac Pro last xmas FedEX Ground stole my Apple 30'' Cinema Display...It took over two weeks (where the tracking never updated beyond 'At Destination Sorting Facility') and many angry phone calls from me before they opened an investigation and reported it lost (i.e. stolen, one doesn't simply misplace a large, heavy 30" ACD box). Apple showed their quality by sending me a new one, express, without any questions asked.

It's why I won't use FedEX Ground for anything anymore.

I suspect temporary holiday help hired by FedEX was to blame.

re: 30" ACD wow, that sucks!

I can't remember anything really being stolen from me in recent memory.

I left my iPod at the gym last summer but it was returned to me.

I "lost" my phone 2 years ago. By lost I mean I was drunk and I lived on a woody hill in southern Germany and dropped it. Then I couldn't find it in pitch blackness at 3AM and had to catch a 7AM train the next day (before sunrise) so I never saw it again. Someone returned the case to my building though...

Although to move into my current apartment I had to pay 400€ Möbelablöse or "furniture fee" and got a bunch of crap, i.e. ripped off. But I guess that's me desperate for a place to live as opposed to really stealing...

A pair of oakley sunglasses. I wore them into the house, sat them on top of the tv... that night the roommate had a party, the next morning they were gone.

Those things were like $175 bucks, and well worth it... hope the jackass who stole 'em suffers the same fate.

A pair of oakley sunglasses.

That reminded me of the only thing I've had stolen (up until yesterday)

I had a brand new pair of Oakley's in my car when some scumbag broke in and stole the screen from my sat-nav system (dumb me, had only just bought the car and didn't know the screen could be detached) but the left my Oakley's. Then yesterday somebody stole my bloody Vista instructor's manual from work. I'm teaching a course on it next week and it had all my damn notes in it, oh well looks like they'll be getting a course on Leopard instead.

We all knew you were the crude one around here!!!

Hearing - Music is way too important to me and I'm a screamer ;) hah hah I kid...sorta.

For some reason I remembered that post, made me burst out laughing in the middle of a course I was teaching, all my students just stopped and looked at me.

A pretty damn expensive cameraphone :(.

To make a long story short, I was walking down a side street when this guy came up to me, accused me of beating up his brother , pulled out a knife and threatened to butcher me if I didn't give the phone to him. Obviously, I'd never met that guy before and the beating up thing was just something he'd made up to scare me enough to get what he wanted.

That was the only thing I decided to buy with my lottery money, and, well... it cost enough to buy me an unlocked iPhone in 2007. Plus there was the emotional value :(

Shame, was it imported? (Sharp 903, etc)

Last thing I had stolen from me might have been my wallet, which has my debit card, $300 of Futureshop gift cards, and other small gift cards. I'm really pissed because I can't find it and iPod Touches are in stock now.

Loads of money ~£900 taken from my bank account, found out the day before I was going on holiday for 2 weeks when trying to get some euros, very annoying, but the bank extended my overdraft + refunded all the money.

Ok you're giving Vancouver a really bad name! Do you live in the ghetto?

No, I just take the 99 B-Line

I work PT in the DTES and NEVER had been robbed or threatened there. ironic, no?

Oh an a guy tried to lift my wallet tonight on the Skytrain.

I have been robbed of most of my remaining ability to suspend disbelief. Perhaps that happens to everyone as time goes on, but I peg it to the inauguration of Bush #43, actually, and to the many ensuing attempts of his administration to amaze me.

Oops, I've gone too far. Well a trip to the wasteland is worth it this one time.

someone stole 3 dustcaps off my car, alloy ones in a ghastly shade of pink/purple  , why they didn't take all 4 i don't know, but they were all chipped and completely naff, it cost me 99p to replace all 4 for plastic ones, which look much better as they don't stand out :)

oh and last November 2006 someone stole the lid of my wheelie bin
