    Hi.

I'm having a problem with my Mac Mini running Mavericks.

When I shut down I make sure that I close all applications that are open. When I boot the Mac back up it opens the programs that I last had open if I missed any or if I shut down seconds after quitting apps (maybe they weren't fully closed yet).
I know its nothing to do with my start up items as I've already checked. Its also nothing to do with the notice that appears in the shutdown box asking if you want last used items to reopen on next boot. The box is never checked.
I'm slightly worried as I have had the HDD replaced twice recently, disc utility shows no problems though.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks

Try this... make sure all apps have been quit then restart. When that box comes up asking if you want to reopen apps upon restart, check the box yes... then complete the restart. Now restart again and uncheck the same box.

I had this issue and this process seemed to reset what got restarted.
