Late 2007 Macbook external display question

not sure if this is the correct forum, if not could you please let me know which one is.

I have a late 2007 Macbook white and was wondering about getting an external screen.

My question is can I connect an Apple Cinema display 20" to it? I have seen a few on auction sites at reasonable prices.

or does anyone have an alternate suggestion?
