Back in the 2016 MBP shipping forum I had promised I would post a benchmark comparison between my late 2008 unibody MBP and my new 2016 15" MBP with maxed out specs, except for the SSD (1TB option).
2008 MBP Specs
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo @ 2.53Ghz
RAM: 4GB
GPU: Nvidia 9600m GT 512MB
OS: El Capitan
2016 MBP
CPU: Intel i7 2.9Ghz w 8MB cache
RAM: 16GB
GPU: Intel HD 530/AMD 460 4GB
OS: Sierra
Note: Geekbench does not support testing OpenCL on the 2008 MacBook because it uses an Nvidia GPU
Left: 2008 MBP results
Right: 2016 MBP results
P.S. I am enjoying my new MBP, its very snappy and I got used to the keyboard quickly. The touch bar adds some interesting interaction as you use the computer. Touch ID is convenient, like when making app/music purchases. It also works great when doing things that require an administrators password.
ENJOY!
