Late 2008 Unibody Macbook (A1278) SuperDrive won't take CDs or DVDs

All of a sudden my Macbook quit taking discs. When I try to insert a disc, it seems like it never takes it all the way inside the drive and then it spits it out after about 5 seconds. I assume I probably need another drive but I thought I would ask before I buy another. Thanks.
