Good Morning Everyone!

I have a late 2009 MacBook, currently sporting 8 Gb 1067MHz DDR3 memory, and a 500 GB SSD... However that hard drive is failing. I thought that when I replaced the HD, I would change the battery (this is the 2nd one and it no longer charges more than an hour of use) and make any other prudent upgrades as possible. Is 8 Gb the max for this laptop? my apologies but I really only delve into the specs and mechanics of my macs when I run into problems and my old standard of Mac Warehouse and other faves are long gone for searching and learning about parts n pieces... :-/ Any advice will be greatly appreciated!! Thank you for your time.
