Late 2011 MacBook Pro not starting up?

It's my freinds but there seems to be now power going to it at all, this happened when she was writing a word doc and it restarted itself, it then turned on but kept restarting but now it's totally dead.

We've reset the power unit/SMC, and we can't boot it into safe mode as it won't even power on.

It sounds like a hardware problem no? Does anyone know of any specific issues with this era of MacBook Pro and power? I know there's a recall on graphic cards but can't find anything about power 🙁

Best thing to do is take it into an Apple Store, make a genius appointment.

And let me guess, apple never did extend warranty repair to radeongate?

In the EU we're covered by eu warranty claims, so I've told her to try and make a claim if thats the case.

They did.

It's covered by Apple for the early/late-2011 15"/17" models and the mid-2012/early-2013 15" rMBP models.

Oh. The 13" models don't have a dGPU and hence aren't Radeongate-prone.
