Has anyone had a power issue with this type of imac?

Mine is 3 years old, and has been having a problem, it powers off after about 30 mins of being on and then won't power on straight away, I have to unplug it and wait about 10 mins to get it back on again. It's been to the store twice to be repaired but still the problem is there, only last week I had the logic board changed came home to try it, same happened again.

Just wondering if anyone has had this issue

No, but it sounds like a power supply issue. I'd suggest doing a full system backup then making an appointment with the genius bar.

PS: I remember Dave Hamilton, of the Mac Geek Gab podcast, having a similar issue a year or so ago. If you go to their Web site you might find some information that will help.

It had the power supply changed the 1st time I went to the genius bar, but only worked for about 6 months then started going again

When I take it in next it will be the 3rd time, do they ever offer a like new/different imac or something like that? Because I can't keep going back all the time, because its like 50 miles away, plus I got to drop it off the pick it up a few days later.

I have the same model iMac (late 2012) with the same issue, random shutdowns! Either in the middle of doing something, or when it's in the Sleep mode. The only way to get it back on, is unplugging and waiting a few minutes before plugging back in. I took it to the Apple Store once, remote session with Apple once, and to an Authorized Apple Dealer..... Some say replace logic board, others say ram or power supply....I haven't replaced anything yet. Last night, I renamed the file com.apple.PowerManagement.plist (instead of deleting) in Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguation/ and so far it has not shutdown... hoping this is the solution! If not, I can change the name back and buy a new iMac, rather than try parts.

If they fix the same thing 3 times and it still goes wrong for the same problem they will probably offer you a new machine but they don't have to they can just keep fixing it.

Strange, I've had that iMac for over 3 years also and leave it on 24/7 with no issues yet
Same here, my MBP is never turned off (unless I'm traveling). My computers are always on, not just my Macs, as the wife as a PC and that's on and it's going great for 2 years now.
