Hey Guys

For several months now, I have been experiencing slow boot up times with my late 2013 iMac. Upon powering it up, it stays in a blank state for approx 10 - 15 secs, before making a chime.

I have a external hdd connected and a external DVD drive hooked up. Has anyone experienced this issue before!

What is the iMac booting from, an internal drive?

If booting from the external is this selected as the boot drive in System Preferences > Startup Disk? Try removing external DVD and also checking if anything is set up to open in login items > Users and Groups in S.P.

Does your mac have the standard HDD/Fusion Drive, or SSD internal drive? Traditional spinning HDD are typically the bottlenecks of any computer in terms of file reading and boot performance.

Hi

My iMac has a 3tb drive and fusion drive, no SSD.

My iMac is booting from the internal drive, the external drive is used for iTunes media. I will try removing the drives and see if it helps!
