The real question, why would one lug around a heavy and bulky workstation class computer? Seems contradictory to the purpose of the "DESKTOP WORKSTATION". Since the trash can requires potentially dozens of external connections, monitors, etc I don't recall it being intended to move much either.

Get a notebook.

Heavy and bulky is only one factor to upgrade. My cMP was on the floor and with a corner desk took up a lot of room and always crawling to get to cables. nMP fits on top behind the monitors. Now I have to stand up and lean over to reach cables. It is cute that the panel lights up if you twist the machine.

Never was a heavy user but liked the internal HDD but not the weight. With the cylinder Mac Pro a raid setup is what is best for me.
