I have a choice of buying a second hand late 2014 iMac 27 with 512 ssd and i7 £1100

or a brand new 2015 iMac 27 from the Apple store with 256 ssd, and i5 £1700 (with education discount)

Which do you recommend. Mainly using for photo and video edits

Many thanks

The 2014 model tends to get so hot it needs to throttle the performance, so when pushed to the limit, it will slow down a little. The 2015 will not.

My old 2013 MBPr had this throttling problem in games, and it was annoying. Taking 2-5 minutes extra, (depending on your video projects lengths) on video exports might not be a big deal. You are the only one who can decide that.

If games are in the picture, you will hate the 2014 I can almost guarantee it.

The 2015 model might last longer, since it can run cooler. Where the 2014 could get problems down the road, with the graphics card or the motherboard, due to the hot environment.

Nice to see both are with SSD storage, you will thank your self for that, no matter what you choose.
