This happened today.
Can't click (it won't register the click). I can tap to click.

Also - the cursor is going crazy (especially, I think, but not sure, near the bottom part of the touchpad).

Questions:

is this hardware? is it the touchpad itself? the cable? the motherboard?

any suggestions would be much appreciated!

Thanks so much!

PS - opened it up, cleaned it, checked under the battery - it all seems fine.
Also did a SMC reset.

I had the exact same issue with my 2015 11" Air a couple years back. A new trackapd off eBay for $20 and a 10-minute swap later and it's been working beautifully ever since

I tried all the usual suspects, including deleting the HAL files etc, reseting bluetooth etc - none worked for me. However, in the same menu as rest bluetooth I saw 'reset all attached devices' so tried that and the problem appears to be fixed. Fingers crossed but so far completely cured.
