It usually takes 5-10 seconds after I enter a search query in the address bar.

FireFox and Chrome is immediate.

My search engine is Google, all on SBC/ATT DNS.

My brand new MBP is maxed out spec-wise.

It's is the quickest browser I use.
When connected to my iPhone hotspot ATT, home Charter cable internet and work ATT Fiber.

safari is slow for me also.

Chrome is faster and Edge running under parallels 12 is faster.

Try disabling all extensions in Safari preferences > Extensions and plug-ins in Safari preferences > Security > Plug-In Settings. If it's better, re-enable a few at a time to find your culprit.

The only thing I installed was AdBlock because it would obviously speed up loading times.

I just turned off "Fraudulent sites" warning and it sped things up tremendously.

I am experiencing this issue as well. Any fix so far?
