The fan started running full blast within minutes of startup... and never ramped down.
I downloaded CPU Fan software in an attempt to solve this... didn't solve.
Now the fan doesn't work at all... assumed dead.
I ordered a new fan.

Question;; The fan cable has multiple wires, does anyone on this forum know what else is in the fan housing? Running circuit? Temp sensor?

Thanks,
Greg

I am a bit confused because it appears like there should be only one wire coming out of the fan itself, according to the iFixit guide. Does your part look like this:

If you are wondering what each individual wires from the single connector are for, you might find this forum page interesting. The schematics of the Mac Mini 2018 are proprietary, but some of the connectors as referenced in the linked page are supposed to be for pulse-width modulation, or PWM (this one is a little above my head ?), voltage common connector, or VCC (power input), GND (ground), and a tachometer (to report fan speed). I do not believe the fan contains a temperature sensor. Hope this helps!
