So I was using my MacBook (late 2018 w/Touch Bar) as I always do everyday, and put it to sleep mode when I was done for the day. Next day I try to turn it back on, but I get no response. Both the screen and Touch Bar is black with no signs of life. Pressing the power/Touch ID button does nothing at all. Now the funny thing is my trackpad is still responding, as in I can click on it (haptic feedback). But that is the only thing responding. Now I CAN NOT hold the power button to force my MacBook to shutdown, the trackpad will still be responsive to a touch. I tried draining it for battery, recharge it and then then turning it on but nothing happen. I tried opening up the MacBook and physically disconnect and reconnect the battery, but still get the same issue.

See (online) if there are 2 points on the logic board you can touch with a small screwdriver.
i need to do this to mine to power the macbook air up if turned off.

Thanks for your anser, but i could not find anything about this on my own logic board.

So quick update, have not found a fix yet. But i have manager to get it into DFU mode and connect it to another T2 MacBook. But reviving and restoring it only gives me the error “AMRestoreErrorDomain error 9”. Anyone fixed this before? I’m using a USB 3.1 with 10gbps speed and charging up to 100W

If you have a brick-n-mortar Apple Store anywhere near, and if it's open (not closed due to covid), I suggest you make an appt. and have the genius bar look at it...

Sound like a T2 chip issue

Unfortunately i live in a rural town, closest Apple store is like a 4hrs drive away.

Guess that means get it in for a repair, and pay a fortynne to get my logic board repaired

Frequently, if it's something that would be expensive and the machine is out of warranty, they'll send it to a repair depot at a flat rate (much less). Third parties have their own repair policies and may not have a way to offer that service.
