Latest AMD/ATI Graphics Chip Destined For Mac Pro? Crossfire?

I dont' know where you've been, But before I put the 8800 in my mac Pro I had a 7950 GX2, a 1 GB Single Slot Card, 90% of SLI performance, 60% of the price. The 8800 is a much faster card tho, and it only has 768 MB of VRAM.

Is 768 MB the actual amount of VRAM?

The 8800GTX is specc'ed with 768MB VRAM...the GTS has less.

Actually, The Inquirer has been spot-on right on many things. Yes, they do release high-risk news that have good chance of being wrong. But they have been right on many things. Hell, Inquirer was the first website I heard talking about the Ati/AMD-merger.

Amd is working on a 4x4 crossfire chip set that does not need ecc ram. Amd also has quad-cores on the way.

Regarding the Inquirer's reliability, it's about 60/40. However, they are close to AMD and have good sources there. That should be taken into account as well. This is one rumor I'm inclined to believe.
