Latest iMacs still using Agere FW chipsets??

    i asked to another thread and got this reply. why didn't they put the bit more expensive Texas Instruments one?? that one would be compatible with 99.9% of FW outboard gear.
    I heard the worst about Agere chipsets. and that they're not compatible with lots of professional audio-interfaces (e.g. RME/MOTU). I use the RME Fireface400 and am really concerned about it, as i already ordered the 24" 3.06ghz iMac..

    some light on this please?

    sure thing, i'll just have to wait til 13-14 of the month. so if anyone has it before, i'd like to know! there is a kind of a solution, daisy-chaining that is, but i want my machine to work flawlessly, without other things interfering in the middle to make it work.

    i also get annoyed that none of the 2 companies are doing something for the problem to be solved!!! :mad:
