Can you imagine if Samsung did this?
Samsung *does* do this, and always has.
Apple has also done this with the majority of all of their other products several times.
The 13 inch MacBook Pro used to infamously lag behind in processors.
The 15 and 17 inch got the first Core I5 and I7 in April 2010, and the 13 inch didn’t get one until February 2011.
The first iPad Mini got stuck with the A5, despite it being announced at the same Keynote as the A6X.
The Standard iPad has always lagged behind in processors by several years.
This is nothing new

Just go back to one iPhone model a year like the way things were run when Jobs was still in charge. This segregation model is way too car-salesmen and underhanded for me. I hate it.
Jobs would have eventually diversified the iPhone, just like he eventually diversified the iPod and the Mac.
It was pretty much unavoidable, the market demanded bigger, so Apple had to go bigger.
Then the market demanded cheaper, so Apple had to go cheaper.
Happened with the iPod, would have happened with the iPhone no matter who was in charge

It's not going to be a renamed iPhone 13 so there will be new hardware features.
Yes, the regular 14 is rumored to include:
5gpu cores, up from 4
6gb of ram, up from 4
Slightly bigger battery
Dramatically improved front facing camera
New more efficient 5G modem
Bigger 6.7 inch option
Sounds like a small, but decent upgrade.
Throw in some new colors and some software exclusives or something, and possibly the rumored emergency satellite feature and it’s just a regular update minus the cpu

This will be interesting.
Personally I see no reason to upgrade if you already own a 13 anything. Unless you are a yearly upgrader and using the Pro.
Now if they had also rolled out USB C ....

Personally, I’m not angry at Apple for this because I am sticking to the Pro models anyway, but I do feel a little sorry for those that don’t want to spend the extra money because they’re getting technology that’s a year old by that point. The only reason I’m not angry is because I already have a 13 Pro Max and I’m not upgrading this year anyways

Looks like the standard iPhone 14 and 14 Max models will be the worst iPhones ever and subsequent lower end iPhones are going to be just as bad. Now I’m definitely never buying a lower end iPhone again
Maybe - just maybe - you should wait for the actual products to be, you know, announced before you do a definitive review of them on MR forums

I’m on 11, still don’t see a reason to upgrade yet.

I would consider upgrading, though. Just the use of a Qualcomm Snapdragon radio modem chip is a huge improvement over the Intel radio modem chip on the iPhone 11.
It is a big improvement if you live in areas with poor signal coverage, it won't matter in cities where 4 signal bars are essentially guaranteed everywhere.

I've had a lot more stable LTE coverage with my iPhone 12 than my now-retired iPhone X. And that's even in good-signal quality areas.
You are comparing the 12, which makes use of 4x4 MIMO and thus has much better LTE throughput, to an X with only 2x2 MIMO.

That alone makes a much bigger difference than just having a Qualcomm or Intel modem.

Loool, try central London, like in front of the London Bridge station, you'd be surpised. (I also have iPhone 11)
