I mean, you seem to have to intentionally download them, so I don't think you need to delete anything if you don't want them. They aren't all included in the default OS install or anything.
Indeed, but from my testing, once you have downloaded them once, if you remove them, they will re-download.

I was actually browsing through these wallpapers this morning before I updated to the new beta so for some reason I already had them. I'm currently swimming through Dark Kelp :)

This is a smart and amazing strategy to make people upgrade their base Mac's storage. Usually they delete all previous generation wallpapers, now they add hundreds.

I think this is great but obviously concerned about storage. Anyone knows how much space they take overall?

I'm afraid i have to completely disagree. When they come to a stop, they are blurred (on a 4k monitor at least).

Worse than that, they take up an inordinate amount of space, before todays additions, if you wanted all of them enabled, you would already have been using 11gb of space, so who knows what they take up now, probably north of 20gb.

Most people using apple silicon have only 256gb ssds, and even at 512gb, who is realistically going to use 5% of their ssd space for some screensavers. Granted, you could just use one but that gets dull pretty fast.

On top of that, these are not easy to disable. Even if you do just select one, your mac will download more/all in the background whilst you are using the machine. I have disabled it now, but it took a bit of trickery using little snitch.

I didn't think I'd care about this, but when they started showing up (my list of choices seemed to jump all at once last weekend), I decided that the fresh workspace just feels good for the mind. Hundreds might be more than anyone needs, but have to admit I'm finding them exciting. A little surprise & delight never hurt anyone.

Would be cool to have just still photo versions of many of these... I don't want or need video-based desktop wallpapers. :/

I may be the only person who still has a dark gray solid color desktop background. I've done this for many years.
Probably good for productivity and keeps you from being drawn into the computer too much? Dopamine and all that. I've tried using some of the macos solid colors before for a retro look, but I always end up switching

Prediction: the next iPad Pro is rumored to have a LTPO OLED, just like the iPhone 14 Pro.
I would not be shocked if they brought these screensavers to it as an exclusive “always on” mode, with StandBy integrated
