Have a new MBA coming in a few days and wondering what dock I need for it. The computer will mostly be an at-home unit, but I'm not interested in any BIG dock. My main use will be for a possibly wired mouse, a regular USB input such as a printer. I think I saw one that looked like it snapped into the MBA existing 2 USB-C ports.

Anyone got a recommendation for a dock for my new MBA?

I have the Apple dongle, HDMI + USB-A (and USB-C power passthru). Even something that simple (and portable) can get you quite far, just add a cheap hub and away you go. This would be just fine for low power peripherals like mice, a printer, etc. Maybe not so good for an external disk (though I'm sure it would work fine for a self-powered accessory).

My boss has one of the cheap-o satechis or similar, he reports no complaints but people on this forum has described experiencing radio interference from them, so be careful and make sure you can return whatever you end up selecting.

small Type-C hub will work for your need. Just do search "Type-C hub" you will find tone of it. Pick the one with best review will work. Normally, it only costs under $50 vs $250 for the big docking station.

Interested to see what hubs for the 2020 model would people recommend. I am looking to see if there are any hubs that have 2 HDMI ports - compatible with the newer model.

I have 6 in 1 from Baseus and I am quite happy with it it only supports up to 60W charging which is a non-issue for your MBA.

You want a ThunderBolt 3 Hub like the Cal-Digit T3 Plus!

Overkill? Suggest a ThunderBolt 3 port Which will give hi. The best quickest Hub to his extra port! I guess me suggesting the quickest hub is out of hand? What are you smoking?

His use case is to attach two USBA devices - a mouse and a printer. They likely don't even utilise USB2 speeds. Thunderbolt will do nothing to speed them up. Overkill.
