What's the latest version of OS 10 that an iMac G5 can run, and more importantly, how does one procure a copy to install?

The latest version that will work is Leopard, 10.5.8. You can find copies for sale on Amazon and eBay.

The maximum OS it can run is Leopard, 10.5.8. It cannot use Intel-only OSes (Snow Leopard and later).
