I recently picked up 2 PPC mac minis and a G3 350 Mhz which I hope to keep this time having unfortunately gotten rid of my first G3.

Not sure what I'll do. Is it easy to install Linux on the mac minis? I might try that. I'll probably keep OS 9 this time. Will get more ram and maybe another HD to use Tiger.

The Blue and White G3 came with some games such as Bugdom. Does anyone here heard of it? I never had until this machine.

Bugdom is a game for kids mainly and was bundled with Macs for many years.

thank you for the response.

Have a question what do you do to reset a password without knowing it. I have on all 3 PPCs user accounts that are locked but they login automatically.

You can boot off of the OS media which provides you the means to reset passwords. You may also be able to boot into single user mode which would not require a password.

Bugdom is my childhood. Such a great game! I played it a ton on my family's iMac G3 back when it was new.

I'll have to get my discs or maybe copy some off the internet since I don't have access to my discs since they are in storage.

I have gotten a ram stick 512mb and was wondering what is the max of RAM for the Blue and White?

I ordered a 512 mb stick. can't wait for it to come. I might have to get another sometime since total won't be 1GB.

If I get a 9.2.2 OS image will that work with my 9.2.1 so I can reset the admin/password?

I could be wrong, but I think since the max RAM on the B&W is 1 GB, it only accepts up to 256 MB sticks. Let us know if the 512 works!

I should have remember that. Oh well I have a stick for my G4 then if it needs it. I'll have to order some later since at the moment its not needed.

Also the seller listed as pulling out of a G4 and thought it would work as well on a G3 but obviously we were both wrong.

is it fine to have 4 256mb sticks? I think that's over 1 GB and would it work. I can't remember what I had in previous one so thanks for the info.

4x 256MB is exactly 1GB (1024MB). It should work ok :)

i forgot how 9 was so I am getting back use to things. Apparently I have one 256mb so now I just need 3 more.

also I got my math mixed up so I thought it was over 1gb not equal to it.

thanks for the replay

order 9.2.1 which I hope isn't burned copy. I'm hoping its legit but Amazon doesn't tell me anything.

Hopefully it works. I installed MacOS9 Lives which I realize I should have waited for the disc. OS 9 was broken anyway hopefully I get a working copy on it now. still need the RAM though. I'll wait on that.

Here's an extract from Mactracker's particulars on the B&W G3;
MEMORY
Built-in Memory None
Maximum Memory 1.0 GB
Memory Slots 4 - PC-100 3.3v, unbuffered, 8-byte, non-parity 168-pin SDRAM
Minimum Speed 125 MHz (8 ns)
Interleaving Support No

The memory you've linked to looks promising. I'm not sure about the B&W, but I've had a good run of buying PC133 RAM, (which is usually a bit cheaper than PC100), for my G3 iBook, Pismo and my two G4 Sawtooth(en).

I need a bigger HD but I've finally have a legit copy of OS 9 and installed my copy of Tiger over it so switching and classic is nice. it took awhile but I am able to get online but i can't seem get Ten Four Fox installed and also having difficulty installing Neo Office and Open Office PPC.

I would post from the Blue and White but the forum is kinda broken on the old Safari
