I've been using Skype for Mac for years, never really had more than a minor hiccup with it.
Then, today I find an update needs to be installed.

Okay then...
After installing the update my VALID LOGIN DETAILS are not accepted.

I can no longer access Skype using the Mac client.
AVOID VERSION 7.24 (335) OF SKYPE FOR MAC!!

I am forced to login on Skype Web just to use my account.

Update: Definitely a bug with Skype 7.24 (335), I reverted to 7.19 (407) using the following link, and the application is usable again:

I've been using 7.24 and works fine for me.
I'm guessing there's a bug involving certain characters in the user name or password.

Update: I changed my password to see what would happen, and I could login using 7.24.
Seems like what is going on is Skype 7.24 is rejecting passwords that don't fit some new undeclared criteria.

Well, 7.24 is really quite messy. Though I didn't have login issues with it myself, I encountered some strange behavior when attempting to adjust the sidebar style (this has changed in this version). In short, I was unable to effectively switch to a different one (there are 3 available: Standard, Compact, Detailed) as nothing changed upon selecting one of them. It was also impossible to adjust the sidebar width. But then after switching to the full screen mode both things (sidebar style selection & resizing) miraculously started to work. Very funny. :-D

By the way if anyone's interested, URL of the previous version (7.21):
