Latex-pdf output in spanish

Hi,
I have to produce something in Spanish, I can see the special characters correctly displayed in the typeset but in the final pdf.... there is nothing.
Could someone help me, should I include something special for that?
When I type for example \'e, the the result is fine, but when I type the real character directly I see nothing in the pdf 😕.
