iPhone X Launch day delivery question...

Hello all!

I have 2 iPhone Max's arriving launch day. Both husband and I will be at work until late afternoon. Last year I remember putting the note (pre signed release)on the door for the UPS driver to leave the packages on the porch. We ended up being home when he arrived and if I remember right...he said that note doesn't work?! Is there a way to change my delivery to in-store pick up? Or other options?!
 
You can not change the delivery method mid stream. As far as I know, the form to pre-sign worked for everyone I know that did it last year. I personally pick up at store, easier to give back my old phone on the spot.

Sign up for a MyUPS account ASAP and you will be able to direct UPS to hold it.

Yea it's up to the driver's discretion whether or not to honor the pre-sign. Other option is if you have UPS MyChoice, you can change delivery and have it hold for pick up at your nearest UPS CC. You will want to select UPS CC because that's where most incoming scan comes in before they go out on delivery truck for delivery. If you request to pick up at the UPS Store, you are delaying your pick up by 1 business day (Likely Monday).

So if I choose to pick up at the UPS hub I can get it that day still, correct??

Yes you will. You will be able to pick up the phone whenever the hub opens in the morning. Make sure to select the ups hub and not a store, as shipping it to a ups store often delays the shipment by a day

Do I need to wait for my tracking number when it ships in order to choose for it to be kept at hub??

Yes you do. Once you have the tracking number and sign up for UPS My Choice, there will be an option on the tracking page to hold the package at a ups hub

Couldn't you just have had it delivered to work? Once you get the tracking number you should be able to change delivery address or pick up from depot.
But no guarantee it will happen on the same day as everyone else's.

Only one thing for it I'm afraid. One of you will need to throw a sickie! (Or ask to work from home).
 
UPS MyChoice is the best thing ever. You verify yourself and make a free account. Be sure you have an account under the name of whomever the phones will be shipped under. You can then ask to have it held for picked up from the distribution hub and it will be ready as early as 8-9am. You can also have it delivered to a UPS store, in my experience doing that it would be ready by noon.
 
Around here the UPS hub is not a good option because it’s in the middle of nowhere. A better option is to ship it to a UPS affiliate nearby, which in my case is just a convenience store.

Note that my iPad Air 2 actually arrived a day before launch day. So, I was able to post benchmarks and confirm memory specs a day before most in North America. I’m told that’s very rare though these days.
