During the online pre-order the limit was 2 phones per person, is that the case in person on launch day, or is it 1 per person on launch day at the Apple Store?

Generally speaking, there hasn't been limits in the past. But some have faced restrictions on purchasing with carriers over Apple.

I've had the iPhone since 3GS. There has always been a two limit per person. I don't recall when there wasn't on launch day.
