With the iPad Air now having launched in over 40 countries today, supplies of the device are starting to weaken in some of Apple's online and retail stores. The most significant signs of tightening supplies are appearing in higher-capacity models in some countries, specifically 128 GB and 64 GB cellular models and 128 Wi-Fi models. In a number of countries these models are now listed as shipping in 5-10 business days.

Apple's U.S. online store continues to list delivery dates of November 4 for new orders of all models, while those looking to use Personal Pickup to order their devices online and pick them up today at a nearby U.S. Apple retail store will find that supplies are beginning to dry up with increasing combinations of models and stores now listed as "Ships to store" rather than "Available today".

In countries other than the U.S., Apple's online stores list shipping estimates rather than delivery estimates, and the following combinations of models and countries have seen estimates slipping to 5-10 business days:

- Australia: Cellular 128 GB in space gray

- Austria: Wi-Fi and Cellular 128 GB in both space gray and silver

- Belgium: Wi-Fi 128 GB in space gray

- China: Wi-Fi 16 and 128 GB in space gray, all Wi-Fi models in silver (Cellular models not available yet)

- Czech Republic: Cellular 64 GB and 128 GB models in both space gray and silver, Cellular 32 GB and Wi-Fi 128 GB in silver

- Denmark: Cellular 128 GB in space gray

- Finland: Cellular 128 GB in both space gray and silver

- France: Cellular 128 GB in space gray

- Germany: Wi-Fi and Cellular 128 GB in both space gray and silver

- Hong Kong: All models quickly became unavailable for shipping

- Hungary: Cellular 64 GB and 128 GB models in both space gray and silver, Cellular 32 GB in silver

- Ireland: Cellular 128 GB in both space gray and silver

- Netherlands: Cellular 128 GB in space gray

- Norway: Cellular 128 GB in space gray

- Poland: Wi-Fi and Cellular 128 GB in both space gray and silver

- Portugal: Cellular 128 GB in both space gray and silver, Wi-Fi 128 GB in space gray

- Singapore: Cellular 128 GB in space gray

- Sweden: Cellular 128 GB in both space gray and silver

- Switzerland: Cellular 128 GB in both space gray and silver, Wi-Fi 128 GB in space gray

- UK: Cellular 128 GB in both space gray and silver

Update: U.S. users interested in checking availability of Personal Pickup for various models may want to take advantage of Apple-Tracker.com for a much more efficient method than going through Apple's online store manually for each model.

Update 2: The Space Gray 128GB iPad Air w/cellular on T-Mobile is the first model to see its shipping time slip on the U.S. store. It is now available to ship in 5-10 business days.

I can't imagine there were too many 128 GB iPads shipped out to stores. I walked into my local Apple Store and picked up a 16 GB with no issues.

plenty of supply in and around Philadelphia region

tons and tons of them at Best Buy too

iPad Mini supply constraints will be insane though...

Geez, at the price of the 128gb iPad, you might as well buy a Macbook Air
The iPad Air I wanted was $670 with AppleCare and a SmartCase. I'm just going to spend another $200 and buy a 2013 refurb when they hit the refurb store.

The Apple Covent Garden store was pretty much empty this afternoon and they had plenty of stock.

I had a play with the Air and I didn't get that urge, it's nice, but I think i will wait it out and upgrade my Mini to retina instead - the Air just doesnt do it for me.

I think this is proof positive people are using iPads as laptop replacements on some level even if they dont realize it.

I believe Microsoft are looking to experience 'weakened stock levels' with the Surface 2 but the only way to truly achieve that would be to only manufacture one. And then demo it.

In some ways Apple has sort of hurt it's own "hype machine" by making so many available on launch day... hats off to them for getting stock up before launches, but the quick sell-off's of old really made people want them more... at least it seems that way.

That said... looks like they are selling a ton today. It will be interesting to hear more on Monday if they release sales numbers.

Wait, so people are buying these? I thought we'd all wait a couple days so stores could have full shelves with boxes piled on them for conspiracy theorist rumors to propagate over the weekend.

Ruining the fun.

I guess Woz was right.

I wonder if all of the people that bashed Woz, because he said he wasn't going to buy one, because he was disappointed that they didn't come out with a 256GB model will now apologize?

I'm glad there are no shortages. I was in and out of my Apple Store in 10 minutes. :)

Considering most people have used laptops as desktop replacements, I would theorize that most have never actually used a "laptop", and a tablet is their first foray into that world.

Or just maybe Apple only made a fraction of 128GB models in comparison to the 16/32's?

this should tell apple something
Yeah, that they will continue to ship 16Gig as the base model so they can charge big $$$ to upgrade to 128Gig+

Sadly, it tells them that they can continue to make 80+% margins on storage prices as long as they want.

The 128GB AT&T Space Gray (Available at the time) with case that I ordered at 4:00 AM EST for In Store (Kenwood, Cincinnati, OH) pick-up is not ready. The Pick-up E-mail (for case) now says the iPad is shipping to store. MircoCenter in Cincinnati has 5 Spcae Gray 128GB Wifi Only in Stock at this time. The Wifi models look to be in stock but the Cellar ones are the ones seeming to run out.

Cellular Models are the issue (unless you want Sprint)

I went to a authorized Apple reseller in my area to pre-order mine. Great local shop with top notch service. Got a call last night that my AT&T 64GB model would not be available due to lack of inventory in what was shipped to the store. Moved my reservation to a Verizon model and now I'm still waiting for a delivery. They are hoping for later today or tomorrow, but it is clear that Apple did not hit the demand for the higher storage capacity cellular models. Very limited cellular 64GB in Atlanta (unless you are willing to go with Sprint). It is great to see the demand, but I think Apple left a lot of 3rd party retailers hanging on this one.
