Hello, I have a problem with my Mac since yesterday and I can not find a solution on the internet.
when I open any document either notes or pages or textedit even in the terminal, when I press r the f or v my launchpad opens and I have to go back to find the app I was writing.
I did an update in the Big sur space result, then I did again and clean install the big sur but the problem remains.
Your help would be very appreciated

Your keyboard might have an issue. Try another keyboard.
Or try checking this box:

Also make sure there are no shortcuts for "Show Launchpad":

Maybe this will help:

But I bet it is a faulty keyboard.

I tried an USB keyboard and working without issues.

so it seems to be a keyboard problem.

what can I do to solver it ?

I have tried already reset to factory setting for my magic keyboard but issue remain.
what I see is that F4 is not responding but keys “r” “f” and “v” respond as F4 instead

Well, if it is a keyboard hardware problem, you could try fixing it, but that looks very difficult:

The straightforward solution is to buy another keyboard, but make sure you can return it in case that does not solve the problem.

Or use your USB keyboard.

Thanks a lot I will try and I will tell you . Happy new year

Hello, did you find a solution o this problem? I have the very same issue. Keys: 4, R, F and V bring up the launchpad. Other keyboards work perfectly on the same imac - both keyboard and imac are new. Cheers.

I have the same issue as can you see. I use another common keyboard and working ok.
I didn’t found any solving source. If you have any pls reply

Thanks for getting back to me. Yes, I'll let you know if I find a solution, but I guess it's faulty hardware if it's the same keys for both of us and other keyboards work. I am within warranty so I'll probably send it back if I can.

Hey, Yeah so I checked the keyboard viewer and I can see the f4 key (which was the shortcut to open launchpad) lights up when I hit the other keys as well as the actual key I've hit lighting up. So there is the issue...

A quick fix is to check "Use F1, F2 etc as standard function keys" in System Preferences - Keyboard. That doesn't solve the bigger issue of why the f4 key is being activated by other keys, but it makes the keyboard usable in the meantime (albeit without the function key shortcuts).

Thanks @TwoH for your suggestion!

Cheers.
