Launchpad swiping choppy

I've noticed that overall on my mid 2010 Macbook pro UI animations are smoother but for some strange reason swiping between pages in launchpad is quite choppy.

I've tried on both the discrete and integrated GPU.

Anyone else notice this?
 
The only choppiness I'm noticing is when I switch between pages like when I go from safari to the main desktop
