Catalina-based system of macOS and apps (iMac 27, 14.2) was moved to new blade SSD - from Apple-original one to OWC Aura Pro X2. An upgrade got also the CPU and mainboard. Mac neither had anytime nor has currently internal SATA-storage. Following the installation from-scratch on new system SSD the user data, files and customizations got imported using Migration Assistant and Time Machine backup. Migration Assistant didn't manage well to migrate a number of items to new system - among others the groups of icons in Launchpad created once by user; also all icons sorting to groups created. This way the launchpad presents now a big mess of icons and one can't be productive when searching for icon of needed app.

Is it possible to recover groups of icons and the icons assignment to groups from backup (Time Machine, Copy Carbon Cloner)?

I don't think macOS has ever migrated the LaunchPad setup to a new computer for me. I try to take screenshots in advance so I can recreate my setup manually.

Thanks for feedback, good to other user know experience. Anybody eventually knows how icon grouping gets stored?
