LCD lose brightness

Do MBP lcd screen lose brightness. I think my MBP is dimmer over a year old. Does the same thing happen to all LCD imac, cinema display? How quickly does this happen?

I think my MBP screen is dimmer than my older sony lcd.

The backlighting wears out gradually, but it should take a lot longer than a year to see the effect.

All LCD screens known to man lose brightness over time.I run a photography studio,and I have to recalibrate my equipment every month or so for printing.On newer monitors...On older monitors I have to recal maybe twice monthly.

Do desktop (imac) keep their brightness longer than notebooks.

nah,doesn't matter what the monitor is hooked up to.Manufacturer may make a difference.
