hello

oh no...a problem

when glancing at the screen i felt like the gap between the top of the screen and the black bezel was larger on the left side. i've turned all OCD and taken some photos. what do you guys think? is this normal or a fault?

i got it new from apple this week (13inch mbp) online and in order to exchange i believe i will need to send back, wait refund and then order again. i dont want to go through all that if i end up with the same again or worst!

also note that the gap on the right side running down is also larger!

thanks...

It looks like it is within manufacturing tolerances to me. If it really bothers you, take it in for service. Maybe if you ask nicely they'll replace the screen for you?

haha love the picture.

seriously does anyone have a 1280x800 image (white) with the outer edge pixels coloured green or something all the way around?
i want to see if any part of the screen is overlapping the border

Definitely within tolerances. Mine was sent in for service, and when I got it back the screen was pretty much the same as this. As long as no parts of the screen are overlapping the border (which shouldn't happen anyways) you should be fine.

honestly, i dont think its that much of an issue to worry about, the screen is defective, nor are you losing any display real estate. i dont know any practical situation where you'd need to be concerned with looking that close at the lcd anyway?

never hurts in bringing it in.

because i know its there, i now see it very time i look at the top corners in day to day use e.g. clicking the apple logo vs clicking spotlight.

my concern isn't the uneven border on left/right, my concern is that the top border is thinner on the right side, which must mean the screen is at a slight angle.

i don't want to replace it because of the hassle although i will stop by the apple store and check out the ones in-store to see if i notice the same thing....im kinda hoping yes lol

Oh well I phoned Apple today and they said as I've only had it 2 days then they will just swap it out.

New one arriving Tuesday and courier is yet to arrange collection of old one so should not be without one for a day.

I'm so glad I didn't buy one off ebay or other retailer now. I spent £900 on this and I want it perfect!
