I recently purchased an LCD display unit off of ebay on it is a temperature sensor chip. My old lcd display doesn't appear to have one, I can't find it anywhere that isn't buried under tape. The new unit is the same exact one and the sensor is on the outside.

My question is, is the temperature sensor just something that is apoxyed to the board some where, or is soldered in?

The reason I ask is because I was wondering if it can be moved. If it can be, I suspect that the guy who was working on swapping out my defacto display unit maybe moved it from the original to the new one.

I'd like to know because I want to know if i can take it off and put it back on the original. It seems like it's on there pretty good but not on any logic board or plugged into anything, just on the outside edge of the metal.

Thanks!
