I'm looking to buy a TV for my dorm room that has a built-in DVD player. For space saving reasons, I think an LCD TV is my best option.

I'll mostly be using the TV for watching TV, but will occasionally connect it to my laptop for use as a 2nd monitor.

Obviously price is a big factor. I don't want to spend too much at all.

I've found these two options; which do you think is the better choice? So far, I've found the ViewSonic to have slightly better reviews.

    Toshiba 22LV610U

    or

    ViewSonic N2201w

    go cheap

personally i think Viewsonic is the better option,
but as you said price is a big factor. So I assume you aren't swimming in extra cash.
How many more years will you be in school/dorm? Two or More go cheap. When you get out in three, technology will have improved and you will probably have more money to buy something better for your bigger place

    Success in your studies! :)

It would be cheaper to just connect your laptop to a regular TV (no DVD player) to play DVDs
