You've never heard of the most played computer game? You're either not a gamer, or you're browsing under a rock.

As a gamer that just learned of this like a year ago I can see where they come from. MOBA's where never my thing though and still not as huge in the US as other countries. While I do enjoy Smite now I still can't stand the over the top view of the others.

Those of you who have been running Boot Camp to play LoL what kind of performance differences are you seeing? The game seems to run significantly better in Windows for me, but, hey, it's a beta!

Wish they had a Dota 2 client on OSX. I played LoL for awhile but as an original Dota player it was too dumbed down for me and I switched to Dota 2 when it came out. Still a great game though.

LoL never had a Mac client? HoN had Mac and Linux version for awhile.
You can pick from all of the hero list instead of a shuffled roster.

You will feel right at home with HoN.
I went from Warcraft 3 Dota to HoN since Dota 2 didn't have a Mac client.

Will be interesting to see how much better it runs compared to boompje's ilol

Downloading now to give it a try.
Now i just need OS X 10.8.3 for updated graphic drivers to my rMBP and all will be good:apple:

Tried this today, it's my first experience with LoL. Solid 60 FPS throughout the entire game (3.4 GHz Quad i5, GTX 560). The first two tutorial levels were fun but who knows how good I'll be against actual players :p

I like how it automatically goes into windowed mode when you finish a match. I have a habit of missing messages from friends etc when I have something in fullscreen all day!

The framerate is locked to 60 unless you change it under options: by putting it on benchmark and disabling V-sync.

I'm a Dota2 player with limited LoL experience.

DotA is the origin of these style of games. LoL and HoN came onto the scene in the last few years to modernize the game style and add their own changes and twists to it. Dota2 is really a recreation of the original DotA, but using Valve's Source engine (as the original DotA was a Warcraft 3 mod).

As I saw one person explain it: "most video games have a learning curve, Dota has a learning cliff". They use a Warcraft/Starcraft point-of-few and similar controls/ui, but you are primarily controlling a single unit. The 5v5 matches feel like 5v5 Counter-Strike games, but controlling your single unit in a Starcraft-style manner.

The amount of depth to Dota is astonishing when you really start looking at it. At least for Dota there are around 100 heros to choose from, each being unique. So the combos of heros that each team chooses greatly changes the play of each match. Then within each game you level your heros up and buy items (starting at level 1, maxing at 25, and this is done for each match). Whoever kills the enemies base first wins.

The meta game around hero choices, what heros counter other heros, what items to pick, which hero's to group together when fighting... it's really deep/complicated.

It should be noted that LoL is a much easier game to learn than Dota, with more "new player" friendly mechanics.

Also loaded it up on my 2011 mid-level MBP, ran like a champ...very smooth.

There has been much talk of this at school today. I personally do not care for this game especially after seeing people who play it 24/7 and never talk about anything else but league of legends.

I didn't mean to imply that it didn't exceed 60, just the opposite; it never dropped below 60. Therefore, at least on my hardware, it's a good port.

Can not connect to server. Gives me an option to retry or cancel. Retry does nothing and when I click on cancel, the screen stays black. I can not get back to the desktop. HELP!!!

Alt-Tab does nothing, the keyboard shortcuts like mission control does nothing, COMMAND+H does nothing, COMMAND+Q does nothing.

HELP!!!

So can we say for sure this game is truly mac native, not any Transgaming's cider nonsense?

I've been playing league on my mac since December. I got the beta from boompje.net Nothing new here.

This. It's been around for a year or years, but I did find that port over to OS X got worse performance the longer you had the client open. It also had worse performance overall in OS X compared to Windows, but that's standard for most OS X versions of games.

I'm interested in seeing how the officially supported version of LoL works in OS X in comparison. While I can play LoL just fine (and competitively) in WinXP (Bootcamp) on my terribly old laptop, I wonder if I can in OS X.

Played on the boompje port version for about a year now and just downloaded the open beta last night.

So far everything feels good with the new beta. My frame rates and ping have had no significant changes over the port version.

I think the biggest help this will provide is keeping a smooth transition between patches. The port would have issues about every 3 patches with some feature failing or game crashes as riot updated features. Official support really should help with stability problems.

League of Legends Fantasy League

Now that LoL is finally on Mac, I don't have to keep switching to my Windows Partition.

And who knows, maybe HoN and the rest of the MOBA games will be ported over soon after.

That would be amazing!

Also since there appears to be a lot of LoL players here, you guys should check this out.

It is a Fantasy League Website for LoL with weekly prizes. Pretty awesome and not well known yet.

It's only the most played video game. I suppose you don't like games at all and that's why you never heard of it; in that case your comment is useless and would invite you to think before commenting.

. I've never heard of it and I've been playing video games for twenty years. So Does that make your own comment useless too? Should I invite you to think about it or would that be rude?

never heard of it

Oh no... you're never heard of it... I suddenly feel the urge to attack you via forum post!
