Up until now, Apple was expected to release four models in its upcoming iPhone 15 series that replicate the 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch screen sizes of its iPhone 14 series, but a new leak suggests the base iPhone 15 model will have a slightly larger display.

According to 3D CAD files obtained by 9to5Mac that designer Ian Zelbo turned into renders, the iPhone 15 will have a display size of 6.2 inches. Whether this size will be common to the smaller of the two "Pro" models is uncertain, although previous CAD leaks suggest the body of the latter device is a few millimeters smaller than the 6.1-inch iPhone 14 Pro, with a thinner bezel and a deeper curve around the edges.

Unlike the iPhone 15 Pro CAD leak, the base iPhone 15 CAD does not suggest this model will have capacitive buttons. Otherwise, the iPhone 15 CAD renders corroborate previously established rumors, including a dual camera setup, the pill-shaped Dynamic Island being adopted on all four iPhone 15 models, and USB-C adoption in lieu of a Lightning port.

Apple's iPhone 15 series is expected to launch in the usual September timeframe. For more on the features we can expect to see from the iPhone 15, we have a dedicated iPhone 15 roundup.

I'm actually pretty excited for the non-pro 15. My only reason for choosing a Pro is the telephoto lens which I mainly use for portraits. I also prefer 50 mm to 77 mm on the latest Pros, so as long at the 48 MP camera comes to the non-pro model than I can simply use the x2 mode (central crop of the 48 MP sensor) to achieve a 50 mm zoom / portrait mode. I twould be nice if the 15 had higher refresh rate (perhaps the Pro gets 1-120 Hz and the non-pro gets 24-90 Hz) but I can probably live without.

I know I am in the minority, or else there wouldn't be this trend towards bigger and bigger phones, but I really love my 13 mini for that and news like this really make me a bit sad. Though Kudos for everyone being happy about it being larger by default.

I guess they increased the size slightly so that the dynamic island won't obstruct a video when you watch it in landscape mode. They moved it up... physically, with a couple of pixels.

That has always looked so stupid to me. It's the same with the pinhole cameras but at least phones with that have 'generally' put them in the corner of the screen, although some have put them in the centre. And it is a bit distracting, but Apples black bar right in the middle at the top looks a bit rubbish I got to say. The notch was far better as apps just worked around it and it was at the very edge of the screen.
The new bar though having the screen wrap around it on all sides looks meh.

Not sure about a thicker camera bump though. Should really be going the opposite way.

I feel like the iPhone 14 just came out! Did those proper leaks always start this early?
It's the same every year. New product comes out and you start to see talk of next years model.

Don't let it bother you. There is always going to be something new out.

Because I have a real camera, and I don’t want or need my smartphone to be a lumpy brick. Users like myself shouldn’t be limited to the iPhone SE.
They don’t buy an iPhone haha. Most people don’t have professional cameras and so they put better ones on phones

What’s the issue anyway? You’ll cover the camera with a case like everyone else no?

When it gets thick enough they'll be able to put a prism in the end and you'll be able to take photos while holding your iPhone at a 45° angle so you don't have to hold it vertical.

I don’t understand why they don’t make the whole square, where the camera lenses are, stand out so this area is flush with the lenses and gives some extra protection for the lenses or does it block the light or something?
