This could be interesting. Built-in navigation systems are stolen regularly here in Europe by Eastern European gangs and are extremely overpriced anyway.

For me it would be extremely useful to just enter my car and have my iPhone power a car screen for navigation and call dialing purposes.

Leaked 'iOS in the Car' Screenshots Show Possible Design Evolution

I've been looking for a head unit that mirrors the iphone OR has the iphone as the interface. I actually have the latter (oxygen O car) but the company has stopped making it. It's an original product and it's a shame nothing it out there like that. Not even appradio

There is a gap in the market or maybe I can't find anything that mirrors the display and is an amp

Hurry Up!

Hurry up Apple! I have an older car and I'm dying to swap the radio with an aftermarket "iOS in the Car" compatible stereo.

"possible" as in not too sure yet ...ummm

Siri didn't have a problem "in-car"... However this is going head to head with Ford Sync...

Regardless how how 'cool' all of this "in-car" may be, its only going to be new cars, so therefore "limited" in my view, until Apple brings out some sort of DIY solution that any car you can fit-it-yourself...

Then again, if your gonna do that... you may as well just leave what we have now. Bluetooth + speaker.

the AppRadio 3 has physical volume buttons as well as a physical Home button that triggers Siri. you can buy it today. many head units like AR also let you wire in your steering wheel buttons.

Yep, I actually owned an AppRadio 3 for a little while. It was a nice unit, I definitely enjoyed the hardware volume buttons and the one-touch Siri button, as well as the Bluetooth "popup" menu accessible from the upper right corner. The radio interface was pretty nice too (though not without its bugs). I never was able to try any "smart display" stuff because I didn't spring for the expensive iPhone cable and my friends with Android phones were not able to get it to work with their phones very well either.

Ultimately I got the Parrot Asteroid Smart, which I love, but it has no hard buttons (except power/sleep). Still waiting for someone to make one perfect device.

Why can't the wifi iPads have GPS? I've waiting so long for that so I guess it's not coming.

What? No. Absolutely not. I will not have controls take up so much screen estate. using the Nexus7 in landscape is terrible.

Yes but they could make the whole front face of the phone more of a screen so that it wouldn't take up real estate. Take that chin off the phone and take the screen as close to the edges as they can it would look amazing.

Except that would seem like they are ripping off iPad mini's design lol. But that still doesn't solve the problem because when you hold it in landscape you'll just get a wider rectangle and if they scale it up to that width it would be worse than now.

looks very Android UI :D

Yes I agree...the app looks more Android like than Apple like. It really looks straight up just like an Android app. Almost curious how close that blue is to the blue in the Android ICS design guidelines.
